TaktProduction vs Tally

TaktProduction vs Tally, for the shop floor

Tally is the backbone of the books for most Indian SME manufacturers. It is not a shop-floor system. Here is an honest look at what Tally does well, where production visibility is missing and how TaktProduction fills that gap alongside it.

At a glance

Tally and TaktProduction do different jobs

The two are not rivals. One keeps your accounts right, the other keeps your production visible. Together they cover both.

Tally

Tally and TallyPrime, is excellent accounting and compliance software. It handles GST, financial reporting, inventory valuation, bills of material and job-work costing. For most Indian factories it is the trusted system of record for the books.

Production layer

TaktProduction

TaktProduction is a production-tracking layer. It shows live job status from order to dispatch, plans against real capacity, tracks OEE for FMCG lines and traceability for fabrication and holds each department accountable. It does not touch your accounting.

Keep Tally, add the production layer

Tally answers the money question, what did we make, buy and owe. TaktProduction answers the floor question, where is every job right now and will it ship on time. Running both means you do not rip out a system your accountant relies on. You keep Tally for the books and add TaktProduction for live production and both reflect the same work. Most plants go live on TaktProduction in 4 to 6 weeks, configured to how they already run.

Common questions

Questions buyers ask

Do I have to replace Tally?

No. Tally stays your accounting and GST system. TaktProduction handles the shop floor Tally was never built to see, live job status, planning, OEE and quality and runs alongside it.

Does TaktProduction do accounting or GST?

No and that is on purpose. It is a production layer, not an accounting package. You keep Tally for the books and use TaktProduction for what is happening in production right now.

Can the two work together?

Yes. Most of our SME customers run Tally for accounts and TaktProduction for production. Production data lines up with what you post in Tally, without forcing you to change your accounting.

Client success story

A premium UAE manufacturer took real-time control of its floor

Manufacturing · UAE

The challenge

A premium UAE gift manufacturer working across several material types was losing time to communication gaps and delays, with no real-time view of job progress or quality control across departments.

The solution

TaktProduction gave them a live production dashboard. Job orders are raised in full detail, each department gets alerted and tracks its tasks in real time and cross-department steps enforce quality checks as work moves along. Management can watch progress from order to dispatch. We later added easier task editing, multi-image support and cleaner handovers.

The result

  • Faster cross-team communication
  • Fewer production delays
  • Real-time quality visibility
  • Oversight for faster management decisions

Management gained the oversight it needed for faster decisions and stronger quality control across every department.
